The Secret of Thirds of Japanese Wanted to Quit Smoking

On October 1st, Japan tobacco began to rise in price. Originally, the price for a pack of cigarettes is 300 yen which is about 20 RMB now became more than 400 yen (30 RMB), so the price has risen by 30%.

However, according to the Japanese media report, after the measure of tobacco tax rising is taking, many cigarettes shops lost many business and the number of customers decreased greatly. In the mean time, many tobacco and raw material suppliers complained a lot and they began to worry about the future of business. But on the other hand, some of the hospital which set quit-smoking outpatient was ushered in a lot of smoking addicted "patient" there.

 

Investigation shows, along with the increase of price, nearly half of the smokers said that they will control the amount of cigarette they have for every day, and about 30 percent of the respondents said their determination to quit smoking. In the interview, some people still said that cigarette prices will affect their family expense and this is exactly a chance for them to quit smoking, but they do feel it's difficult to do that. And others said the cost for smoking is the same as having dinners and they may consider quitting if price doubled.

 

Despite the above news, there is another reason for the Japanese to quit smoking. As we know, male Japanese live under a lot of pressure at work every day; they live in the high strength work. Because of cultural background, the Japanese seldom have lazy habits and they always finish the task according to the requirements of the leadership earnestly. After work, they often go to bar or KTV to relax and go back home very late. When they are at home, smoking is the primary way to feel comfortable. There is news about a Japanese family as proof. The wife has been pregnant for 2 month, so she asked her husband to quit smoking to make sure their baby will be healthy when he is born.
