How the Tribesmen Caught Monkeys
I heard this story sometime back on how an African tribesmen caught monkeys.
What they did was to prepare a coconut by making a hole just big enough for a monkey's hand to go into. However, if the monkey's hand is closed (making a fist), its hand will not be able to come out of the coconut. The coconut is then tied to a tree.
The tribesmen will then lay the bait. Using peanuts as the bait, they will lay a trial of the peanuts all the way to the coconut, with a handful of peanuts inside the coconut. Then they wait patiently.
Sure enough, a monkey would soon appear and start taking in the bait, picking the peanuts one by one. Upon reaching the coconut, the monkey inserted its hand in and grab a handful of peanuts. To its surprise, he realized that his hand cannot be taken out, with his hands grabbing the peanuts.
Once knowing that it has been trapped, the monkey will then scream and shout and alert all the tribesmen who will then come along and capture the monkey! This poor monkey would then lose its freedom forever.
Now, can the monkey actually escape? DEFINITELY! All he needs is to LET GO all the peanuts that he's holding. But the fear of losing the peanuts make the monkeys held onto the peanuts, and thus losing his freedom forever.
In your life, how many times have you actually behave just like the monkey, simply refuse to let go your limiting beliefs and habits simply because you're afraid of losing what you have now? How many times have your chose to stick to your comfort zone, and let go of opportunities to go out and get something that you much more deserve, better life, more wealth to do what you truly whats to do, to be successful in where your passion lies in.
In order to be successful, one of the most important factor is to learn how to step out for your comfort zone, destroy your limiting beliefs and habits. Inject more positive beliefs and habits that will allow you to propel towards your goals and dreams, instead of holding onto limiting beliefs that hinders or preventing your from achieving what you truly are capable of. That's having full freedom of controlling your own life, doing what you truly desire and passionate about.
