Unconventional Places to Acquire Products Needed For a Dollar Store Start Up
Are you an individual who is considering a dollar store start up? If so, some of the countless considerations in front of you include where exactly to obtain the products intended for your store start up. It's possible you have no idea where to acquire the merchandise you will be selling. If you are lucky you may actually be familiar with a handful of distributors. But still more are required to provide the products needed to fully stock your store.
While you can certainly turn to the usual sources such as general dollar store merchandise suppliers, and even specialty merchandise suppliers, there are other more creative options to consider. In this article I present 3 of the often overlooked options.
Option 1) Liquidation Companies
Liquidation companies offer customer returns, damaged, salvage, and surplus, overstock and closeout merchandise. Some offer set pricing while others run through an auction-like or competitive bidding sales process. Be sure you know exactly the nature of the items you are thinking of buying.
Option 2) Closeout Companies
Closeout companies offer very similar products to liquidation companies. Many companies advertise themselves as doing both closeout and liquidations.
Option 3) Overstock Companies
Once again there is a great deal of overlap with liquidation and closeout companies. While some overstock companies only handle excess, overstock merchandise, others handle any type of excess products including the very same as are found being sold by closeout companies and liquidators.
Make sure you know exactly what you are buying with any of these sources. The good news is the pricing can be very, very good. Some even obtain true dollar store merchandise at deeply discount prices every once in awhile. In other cases the door opens for dollar store pricing on items that have significantly higher recommended retail prices.
